FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should we wear?

Forest School sessions take place whatever the weather so it is really important to be wearing the correct clothing.

  • Long sleeved top (lightweight for summer and layer up for winter).

  • Long trousers.

  • Sturdy boots or wellingtons.

  • Waterproofs.

  • For warmer weather, a sun hat. Sun cream applied. For colder months, hat and gloves.

  • Above all, no clothes that you don't want to get dirty. Mud is a key feature of some Forest School sessions and children will get muddy!

  • An additional bag for dirty clothes/boots.

Do children need to be accompanied?

For the Stay and Play sessions at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, children will need to be accompanied.

For School sessions there will need to be a member of staff present.

Are there any forms to be filled out?

When booking a session for Hylands Forest School you confirm that you will adhere to the Booking Terms and Conditions - there is no paperwork to be completed.

For School bookings a Handbook will be provided with policies, procedures and risk assessments. One signed copy will need to be returned before sessions commence.

Will sessions continue in adverse weather conditions?

Sessions will continue regardless of weather unless there are very strong winds, in which case it is unsafe to be amongst the trees. Generally, in schools we can move to the open field and continue as normal. Please see Weather Policy for further information.
